Tell us about yourself & HR Search

Well, I’m what you’d call a boomerang employee. For those who don’t know, I actually worked in the company back in 2017 so it’s a real full circle moment for me. I’m delighted to be back in HR Search as an Associate Director and excited to be recruiting in the HR space again.

You’re a rejoiner? What made you return to HR Search?

I’ve kept an eye on HR Search over the years and have always been so proud to see them go from strength to strength. I always loved the ethos of the company and how they put the person at the forefront of everything they do. It felt like a really exciting time to rejoin and I’m excited to be working alongside Niamh and Jess.

How did you get into recruitment?

Like so many of us, recruitment is a career I sort of fell into. In 2014 I had just returned home to Dublin after a few years in London when I met up with some friends I hadn’t seen in a long time and by chance one of them brought a friend along who was a recruiter. We got chatting and she told me I’d make a good recruiter and that I should send her my CV. I had to question if it was the wine talking,  our mutual friend assured me she was being serious. I followed her advice and shared my CV that weekend and the rest is history!

How has your background helped you in your role?

Before recruitment I worked in fashion retail for a number of years and worked my way up to Branch Manager. Within this role there was a lot of people management and given the nature of the business recruitment was a huge part of my day to day. I feel my years in retail have absolutely stood by me. Retail like recruitment is fast paced, you never know what a day may throw at you and you have to be adaptable. The service element is equally important in both, knowing your customer and understanding their needs is key.

What do you like about your role?

For me it’s the people, I’m someone who gets my energy from people. I’m naturally a chatty person and would be inquisitive which I think helps when you’re in recruitment.

What is your favourite mantra?

When I was growing up my Dad used to always say to me “unto yourself be true”, it’s always and will always be my mantra.

What makes HR Search Unique?

It has to be our approach, for us it really is all about finding the right person for the right role. We are not transactional recruiters, we genuinely care about the experience we offer our clients and candidates.

Fun fact?

I’m a qualified sailing instructor.

Where would we find you when you are not recruiting?

I escape to Lough Derg on the River Shannon every chance I get. We’ve an old barge that we’ve been restoring for the last few years. After a busy week there’s nothing quite like getting out of the city and unwinding with family and friends.
