Head of HR
 
As the Head of HR, you will play a critical role in shaping the company’s strategic direction through effective people management. You will lead the HR department to develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the company’s goals, fostering a positive work culture and optimising employee engagement. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and the ability to drive continuous improvement in HR functions.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
Strategic HR Leadership:

  • Build a deep understanding of the operational and strategic challenges of the company.
  • Develop specific HR projects to address these challenges
  • Align HR initiatives with the company’s strategic objectives to deliver measurable business outcomes.

 
Culture and Employee Engagement:

  • Foster a strong, positive workplace culture by engaging employees and promoting open communication.
  • Implement initiatives to improve employee relations, reduce turnover, and enhance the company’s reputation as an employer of choice.

 
HR Initiatives and Program Development:

  • Develop and implement HR strategies and programs, including talent acquisition and retention, succession planning, learning and development, performance management, employee engagement, compensation and benefits, and talent management.
  • Ensure these programs are aligned with business goals and drive tangible outcomes.

 
Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify challenges and opportunities for improvement within the HR function.
  • Recommend and implement solutions to enhance HR processes, systems, and policies.

 
Compensation and Benefits Management:

  • Define and manage the company’s compensation strategy, including salary ranges, benefit offerings, and bonus structures.
  • Monitor market trends to ensure competitive compensation packages that align with the company’s strategic goals and budget.

 
Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant employment laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Oversee GDPR compliance and ensure data protection practices are in place throughout the organisation.

 
Leadership Development and Support

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to line managers to enhance their HR knowledge and skills.
  • Collaborate with managers to develop HR planning strategies, focusing on immediate and long-term staffing needs.
  • Oversee the training budget, ensuring employees have access to learning and development opportunities.

 
Performance Management

  • Develop and maintain processes for employee performance monitoring and appraisal.
  • Support managers in coaching, disciplining, and resolving employee grievances effectively.

 
 
Key Requirements:

  • HR/ Business degree or accreditation from the CIPD
  • A minimum 7 years’ experience in a HR role with a vast working knowledge of all HR departmental areas, including reward and recognition, succession planning, learning and development, as well as HR systems and budgets, plus experience in creating and implementing HR Projects.
  • A minimum 3 years’ experience in a management role – proven leadership experience with a pro-active attitude and a passion for leading with integrity.
  • Commercial acumen and experience of using metrics for driving performance.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive, approachable manner with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the business.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • The confidence to provide sound professional advice combined with the ability to accept and provide feedback

  • Strong organisational, time management and multi-tasking skills.
